?An Electrical Development Engineer will typically be involved in creation of new products and maintaining existing products under guidance of an R&D Engineering manager, Team leader, Project Leader or a Senior Engineer through the electrical design, development, testing, commissioning and integration phases. He will also be the first point of contact for electrical technical support once the product is launched for series production. Responsibilities involve execution of tasks to achieve electrical compliance to the product requirements specifications, fitness for purpose, electrical legislative and regulatory standards and product safety and reliability. Support marketing, operations and aftermarket electrical technical questions and issues related to existing products.

Main Responsibilities (Give 6 to 8 main areas of work. State what is to be done –to what - the end result e.g. Develop, agree and implement detailed sales plans to increase market share in Europe):
?Acting as a member of an (international) project team working to develop and commercialize new products with a focus on electrical design. The complete lifecycles of the product will be experienced from concept selection, alpha product build and development, compliance testing, pre-production, production ramp and knowledge transfer post-launch to the Product Support Group.
?To support with electrical expertise the implementation of new ideas and initiatives, contribute to the design and development of sub systems and/or pumps and/or pumping systems. For example design of electrical cabinet with controller & inverter.
?Responsible for defined aspects of electrical product definition, demonstration of fitness for purpose and product electrical safety and legislative readiness for a global market
?To undertake defined aspects of the electrical verification and validation test programme, legislative and reliability testing
?To use risk management tools such as DFMEA to minimize potential electrical failure modes
?To reduce time to market by precision of task delivery
?To efficiently support the customer (your own R&D team or other departments like marketing, operations, aftermarket,…) with questions and issues related to electrical design of existing products.
Preferable 2-5 years experience in product development and technical support in a manufacturing industry, ideally relating to rotating machinery or engine or pump manufacture.
Technical knowledge of and experience with motor, inverter, controller, electrical cabinet assembly, system software design and qualification of rotating machinery (vacuum pumps, compressors, centrifugal pumps systems) according to global standards & directives is an advantage.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies.
Practical experience of experimental techniques, DFMEA’s, electrical reliability testing, the process of product design and the introduction of new products to production.
Good experience and usage level of the key MS office packages, e.g MS Excel, Words, Powerpoint
Basic knowledge of local and global electrical standards (IEC EN60034-1, EN60034-30-1, low voltage directive 2014/35/EU, EMC compatibility 2014/30/EC, CSA/UL/cUL, CCC … )

A typical pattern of work for an electrical engineer may include:
• Delivery of the evaluation of a defined element of an R&D and technical support
• Use of sources of relevant electrical knowledge, excellence and associated support within the organization
• Application of relevant existing and new electrical technologies and techniques
• IP creation where possible
• Conducting experiments and accurate gathering and analysis of results that are then reported and presented within the project framework
The job holder will be working with other development engineers and staff as part of a wider group / team. Therefore good written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Travel to other Atlas Copco product companies and customer centers, manufacturing, supplier and customer sites is expected as required and could be up to 25% of working time.
